EXPLORING MEDITATION

 

This course is aimed at beginners and regular meditators alike.

In Deepening Your Practice we will explore different meditation techniques as a means of going deeper within.
Some of the meditations include active meditations where body movement is introduced. These active techniques are useful for unloading tension in the physical and emotional bodies, helping you to connect more easily to that centre of calm within.
In this course you will also work with the chakras. Chakras are seven energy centres in the body that govern our physical, emotional and mental well being.

Deepening Your Practice is available in two formats - as a four week course and as a half day course.

Four Week Course

Based on one and a half hours each week, we will explore the following methods:

Week 1 THE BREATH

using the breath to deepen your meditation practice
we will also use a chakra breathing technique

Week 2 MANTRAS

using sound and mantras as a focus for your meditation this lesson will also include stimulating chakra energy with sound

Week 3 VISUALIZATION

using imagery as a means of retaining a focus in meditation
good visualization works on three levels; imagery, emotion and bodily response
the methods used this week also incorporate physical and emotional responses

Week 4 DYNAMIC MEDITATION

in our final week, body movements are incorporated into our meditation practice
the dynamic meditation consists of four stages; shaking, dancing, witnessing and being still
these physical movements help to free the body of any tension before you enter into the stillness within

Half Day Course

In the half day course, we explore more fully the various methods used in meditation, with particular emphasis on:

- the breath
- visualization techniques
- mantras

We will also use the breath and visualization to work with the seven energy centres in the body known as chakras.

To complete the course, we will incorporate body movements and finish with the Dynamic Meditation.
